threads
— clothing is an integral part of the queer community. Not only are they a means of expression and comfort, but it can quickly become deeply personal and intimate. These papers are made out of the first pair of men’s jeans I bought myself, a shirt in the mauve color that riddles my partner’s closet and home, a blouse a woman wore during the beginning of her transition, clothes handed down from family members in acts of affirmation, or clothes that simply made a person feel themselves. Clothes are ordinary just like paper, but with this work, I wanted my viewer to come closer and closer as they saw the threads and letter embossed stories in the gentle and primitive paper.
